In the Spring of 2019, our founder, Jasmine Bankhead, was faced with the difficult decision to either provide care for a family member or allow that family member to enter foster care. She ultimately chose to seek guardianship of her family member to prevent the child’s displacement from the family. This process reminded her of the countless similar situations she encountered during her work with the Chicago Public Schools. This situation ignited a flame in her to again advocate and stand in the gap for those who cannot advocate for themselves, especially the youth. As such, she began the process of licensing Intrinsic Home Care as a Child Placement Agency within the State of Indiana.
So, in the summer of 2020, Intrinsic Home Care was licensed by the Indiana Department of Child Services as a Child Placement Agency. This allows us to better support the needs of the community by expanding our services to include licensing traditional and therapeutic foster care homes and supervising out of home placements through case management services.
We are continuously creating new resources and developing innovative solutions to meet the needs of each family and child, and always searching for people in the community to provide loving, nurturing, and healing homes to abused and abandoned children.
If you are considering opening your home and heart to a child through foster care in Crown Point, Indiana, we are here to guide you through the process.
