Rules Every Foster Parent Must Follow

Rules Every Foster Parent Must Follow

As a foster parent in Indiana, there are lots of rules and regulations you’ll have to follow to foster a child. Some of these rules and regulations may vary in every state. Knowing these rules ahead of time can keep the little one safe and ensure that you don’t get in trouble with the law.

Here are some of the simple rules that every foster mom or dad may not know yet:

  • Social Media
Foster parents are not allowed to share the faces of the children under their foster care in Crown Point, Indiana on social media. You’re not the legal parent of the child, so under the law, you don’t have the right to do this. Moreover, not sharing the child’s face on social media is for their safety too.
  • Haircut
Having a haircut may be as trivial as trimming the nails, but it’s an entirely different story for a child being fostered. Basically, you’re not allowed to make drastic changes to a child’s appearance, unless you’re cleared to do so by the biological parents or the caseworker from foster kids services.
  • Vaccination
Even if you’re a household that doesn’t believe in vaccines, you are obliged under the law to vaccinate the child you’re fostering. In fact, even if the little one’s biological parents are anti-vaccination too, the state will still requires to have them vaccinated.

Intrinsic Home Care, Inc. wants every foster child to have a safe and healthy home. Kindly send us a message if you have questions about our services.
